Generally, we define customers as those entities or individuals that buy goods and services from your company.
To further define customers, we can sub classify them as potential or regular (existing) customers.
Potential customer(s) are those that are new or yet to have a first transaction with the company.
In order to manage your company database better, and also part of customer relationship management(CRM), you can target your marketing effort at the potential customers, existing customers, or inactive customers

At Customer master, you can indicate a customer to be a potential customer or a inactive customer.
This is to separate them from the active customer that you are regularly transacting with.
